If you are ignorant then most of us must be just plain stupid. I remember when you told me that my way of keeping up (I can't remember the details that caused me to reach a conclusion, but I do remember that it was the details that led me to it) was OK. See, I don't remember what you said, but it made good sense at the time. So please don't be harder on yourself than you are on others. If we remembered every detail, and had to review our opinions before following logic to it's next step, we might finally be coming to the conclusion, right about now, that Seperation from England was called for. So, don't knock instincts, they're based on a lifetime of experience that you don't need to relive for the lessons to be true.

You know, Nader is to the left of me on more than a few things, but compromising with Republicans hasn't gotten us very far so far.

Much better to the left than to the right, which is what most of the DC crowd is. We need a strongly supported "liberal" to rebalance the slant.

Just think how refreshing it would be to be able to believe that the President got up in the morning and went to work on trying to make government work for the people. I guess that's what you meant by saying we should not have to watch them after we elect em.

You know, Mother has always been a Democrat, but she always trusted the occupant of the White House regardless of Party, to do his best to do the right thing. When she disagreed with an action or policy, she said, "Well, I guess he has some information that we don't", which was, of course, true. Of course it doesn't mean that they were boy scouts, but the system was presumed to be self policing. It would have been unthinkable that the President came in to office with an agenda that did not concern itself with what was truly best for the country and it's citizenry - In his opinion, of course. The President might be wrong, and he might even be sneaky, dumb, misinformed, or whatever, but who would ever have imagined the sort of scandals on today's horizon.
