To the question about UBF being a cult, I like to give this answer:
The term "cult" is media-loaded and highly subjective.
Aside from that term:
- inside Christianity, UBF is a sect, dividing themselves through doctrine and practice from the rest of the Body.
- Regarding theses doctrines and practices, you will see that they are a Totalist Aberrant Christian Organization (TACO)
- The way they treat their members with peer pressure, coercive persuation, suggestion, indoctrination etc. makes them a clear-cut Mind Control Environment (MCE)
- Their structure is obviously based on a cult of personality, detailed studies reveal UBF to be a typical Charismatic Leadership System (CLS)
- Toping it, they use your spirituality to push and pressure you, they show all traits commonly looked for in a Spiritually Abusive Environment (SAE)
Given that, it doesn't matter if one comes up with a definition of "cult" that UBF does or does not match, I can and will clearly say UBF is an unhealthy environment and you're well advised to avoid these people.
