Thanks for clearing that up.

Phillip, there is only one "calling" in UBF which is calling for campus mission, or, to be more exactly, UBF campus mission. Most people who became Christians in UBF believe or are made believe that it is a matter of course that they stay their whole life in UBF. "You have been saved through UBF, so it would be unthankful to think of going anywhere else except UBF." That's the simple solution. And because you see and hear nothing else except UBF campus mission in UBF, sooner or later you will buy the idea that you have been called for campus mission by God. You aren't confronted with any other ministry in UBF anyway.

Likewise, UBF has no idea about the Biblical teaching of different spiritual gifts. Everybody needs to fit into the same mold of a UBF shepherd. Koreans have two choices more: they can also become rank-and-file missionaries or corrupt leaders. But any other church ministry does not exist. The whole concept of spiritual gifts does not exist in UBF.

It seems to me now that the Holy Spirit didn't talk to anyone personally about God's plan for that person, only about God's plan for their subordinates (except maybe for the very top people).

Yes, that's the basic problem in UBF. They even believe if God has a certain marriage partner in mind for you, than he will tell it to your spiritual "superior", not to you. What a strange idea, if you take it as it is. But most people in UBF believed this, and most of us ex members too, when we have been in UBF.
