Subject: Another "ad hominem"
In reply to: Tom Fosler 's message, "Since when..." on 14:35:58 05/24/04 Mon

I would like to point out that the APA has an extremely liberal agenda behind them, continuing to push homosexuality off as genetic rather than a choice or a mental disorder, for example. Let's not forget to mention that the entirety of this article is based largely on postmodernist views and not on the truth based in God's word. I personally wouldn't recommend anyone to place any trust in the APA's findings on brainwashing, since they themselves are brainwashed by the latest psychological fads, cooked up by people who don't want to be responsible to God, and who continue to strive to destroy the ideal of the nuclear family. My $0.02.

Well, your posting is another typical example of the "ad hominem" fallacy, somehow.
You're suggesting that because of the APA's posthuman, modernist views and their liberality, their views on "brainwashing" are automatically invalid.

Again, I'd like to point out the following:
The Roman Catholic Church established an unbiblical hierarchical system, they preach the worship of Mary, make "sanctification" a human-given title, sell indulgences, teach salvation by works etc... They also teach that Jesus was the Son of God. Is that latter statement automatically also heretical or biased, because it is taught by the same people who taught all the above heresies?
The point is: it is NOT. Just because a person/institution said many bad things, doesn't mean ALL things are bad. Each point has to be examined independently.
So, your sweeping statement to discredit the APA in order to get over this "brainwashing thing" is merely another example of "ad hominem" applied.

In Christ,
Mike K.
