I could go along with the rest of what you wrote, but calling Nick's challenge a "red herring" is pretty inappropriate. These kind of things are exactly the crucial things that need to be talked about, they are not red herrings.

The question is how these 2nd gens kids deal with (ongoing or never straightened out) injustice. You can look at it from two sides, you can be content and happy if you see a little concession of the 2nd gens that things were wrong in the past, but you can also see this as an alerting revelation of their mindset, nanmely that they know about the problems, but don't care about them. I see this as an alering signal that the 2nd gens have already lost interest in a truthful, just and holy life as Christians, but start to compromize. I can understand if their parents are corrupt, they are already old. But young people should not be corrupt. If they are like that in their youth, how will they be at old age? At a young age you should be idealistic and burning for truthfulness and justice.

I dont imagine Sarah would have heard of her, so why mention it.

Sorry, Tony, I cannot follow your logic here. If I talk with a Neo Nazi and explain why being a Neo Nazi is bad, should I not confront him with the wrongdoins of the Nazis in the past?

No, the reason why these things need to be mentioned is because they are covered up and not mentioned in UBF, because she has never been confronted with such stories which are not stories, but history which still affects people like Jackie Lee today. Also, if Sarah is a Chicago UBF kid, she probably knows all all parties concerned very well.
