Just a quick side note in a minute:

Christan Man, you seem to be stout on your independence. You seem to display keenness.

I don't want to imply anything but I want you to ponder this thought:

One of the typical signs of spiritual abusers is that they know quite well how far they can push whom. While a person who is still quite independent won't even be asked to spend a weekend away from family, an already-dependent person may - by the same person - be told they would go to hell if they would visit their family.

I can testify from my own experience that I never really was pressured to do anything inside UBF - yet, retrospectively, I did do and say many things which my conscience (at that time even, and so much more in retrospect) would not agree with solely because I wanted to be "a good shepherd".
It's called subliminal messaging. And it's going on all the time in UBF, no one tells you anything but somehow everyone knows what is meant... if you don't get the subliminal things, people won't mention, but once you catch the "hints", you either follow them or you'll openly "rebel" against the things implied inbetween the lines.
Only those who follow are considered "leadership material" (UBF euphemism for already-quite dependent members) to be fed with dozens of red herrings and a dangling carrot - and then, the abuse can start.
If you don't follow on the subliminal line, well, they like you because you're a +1 count to their statistics but they won't spill a tear should you leave.
