Some catholics make a fuzz of the word Xmas because it has only an "X" instead of the official Roman Catholic Chi-Rho "logo" for Christ also known as "Labarum" (see right). Some Protestants make a fuzz of it because it has the Roman Catholic "mass" in it. By the way, in German language, the word (Weihnacht) has neither Christ, nor X, nor mas in it. I wouldn't make a big fuzz of it, because Christmas is not in the Bible anyway. That does not mean celebrating Christmas is a bad tradition. But we should not see it as a sacrosanct biblical constant. It is simply a church tradition. Messianic Jews, for instance, celebrate Chanukah and give it a similar meaning, emphasizing that Jesus came as the light in the world which is the main point about Christmas. That is very appropriate for Jews.
