Ideally, this is merely the suggestion of "organization versus organism".

In a genuine organism, ostracizing a single member will usually not cause a fatality. Nothing happening to a single member kills the organism, though the organism can get shaken.
An organization stands and falls with the top echolon.
Think of a proper Church as an interwoven network, you have to remove a critical amount of nodes (maybe 50%, maybe more) before ANYTHING will affect the remaining nodes.
If you have an authoritarian system, on the other side, removing a few dozen can cause the whole system to collapse.

Simply put, if in a normal, functioning Church ANYONE is proven to have no integrity, the others will admit it and move on.
In UBF, if a UBF member can be convinced that anyone in thei hierarchy above them is morally corrupt, it affects the entire pyramid and will affect that person's decision making process in the system directly, as being obedient to a sinful system is the question.
In the normal church, there's no question like that: avoid the sinning member and get on with it.

So really, if you'd have a functioning organism, you don't NEED to worry (but you can, and maybe even in some cases SHOULD) about what others do because it doesn't affect you, but in UBF you're TOLD not to worry what others do because if you WOULD actually care, the whole house of cards might be coming a-tumbling-down.

In Christ,
Mike K.
