Hi E. I would suggest looking on the support page of this website to see if there are any ex-UBF members near you who might be willing and able to help you or you might want to get the police involved. If the missionary refuses to give your stuff back and claims the stuff is his do you have any thing (receipts, pictures of you with the stuff in your possession) to prove it really belongs to you? is there anyone else (friends in UBF?) who would back you up and acknowledge the stuff is yours? I'm just trying to think of some ideas... anyone else have any ideas? maybe you could ask another UBF "sheep" or "shepherd" to help you. You could both go to the missionary together and just say you would like to get some of your things (you don't have to tell him yet that you're leaving-- you don't own him any reason just to get your stuff- just say you want it because it belongs to you). If the missionary refuses (in front of the other UBFer) well then at least you have helped another UBF sheep/shepherd to see a little of what UBF is really like (stealing other people's stuff to try and intimidate them not to leave UBF) or, like you said, you might want to consider just leaving it behind (we left and gave away a lot of stuff just to get out of there)
If I can help, you can reach me at 847-697-3225 or joemattluke@hotmail.com
