I understand what you mean. It is funny how important, great, wonderful, sacrificial and spiritual a person is while in UBF, however when they decide to leave, they are like dung.

One women missionary always told me how great I was in UBF, and how important I was to UBF, but when I decided to leave she repeatedly said, "You know, UBF does not need you!"

I witnessed this over and over again. One shepherd worked sacrificially fishing and feeding sheep, fixing the center, and remodeling the director's basement all for free. He worked harder than anyone I ever knew in UBF. He worked so hard untill he became sick. He was diligently praised. However, when he left because he felt lied to and betrayed Samuel Lee and the director of Toledo said, "Because he got married and a job he only wants to enjoy God's blessings without the cross."

There were so many instances. No one would ever acknowledge that someone left because of a legitimate grievance against UBF. It was always because they did not have a thankful heart or because they became proud and just wanted to enjoy God's blessings or things like that. Always, derision and scorn was heaped upon those who left. The funny thing is that this derision and scorn is usually proportional to the praise and acknowledgement that that person received in UBF. If you did very little, no one cared if you left. However, if you were prominent, hardworking and diligent, then all sorts of bad things were mentioned to explain why you left.

Perhaps this derision and scorn is the UBF peoples' way of dealing with the separation. There MUST be something wrong with the person, certainly not UBF!

Even recently I hear of such things. One young lady left Toledo UBF and her shepherdess became so indignant and said, "How can you do this to me!" "After all I have done for you!" So, they said she left because she was impatient to solve her "marriage problem."
