Here's a recognition that seemed to be missing from all three periods of UBF attempted reform: that many, many people have left UBF. In UBF parlance, they "ran away." No one, UBF or CMI, seems to have seen this as a problem, though statistics and numbers seem important to both.

The differenc is that UBF always talked about numbers, but never published any statistics about membership numbers and net growth. I know that UBF does maintain internal statistics of membership and finanical numbers. Our chapter had to give a written one-page-report every week to the national headquarters, containing, among others, the weekly number of 1:1 Bibles and Sunday service attendants and probably offering. The national headquarters was always informed about the number and names of co-workers in our chapter and all the other chapters in Germany. And I think it is save to assume that the Chicago headquarters collected the national statistics and kept statistics about EVERY UBF chapter in the world. But they never, never published these number. I think ICC published the statistics, because, at least in the beginnings, they had such a strong growth and could be proud of it.
