In reality, the cross taken up in UBF was the cross to obey shepherds, fellowship leaders, and chapter directors even though their direction was human-centered and not Christ-centered. The cross of bearing their mistreatment and abuse becasue they are God's servants sent from Korea or whereever to be our personal shepherds. That is often the main focus when shepherds are raising up sheep. Sheep are told that they must overcome their human ideas, lack of faith, selfishness, family-centeredness, schoolcentered, laziness, and/or pride and accept that the direction of their shepherds are God's will for their lives. Once the sheep overcome themselves to obey their shepherds, UBF considers the sheep's cross to have been carried.
However, the cross Jesus wants people to carry is to give their lives to serve Christ. The cross UBF leaders want people to carry is to give their lives to serve UBF leaders.
