Subject: Voice tension

Hi. I am a singer in Colorado - mostly amateur, but I majored in music in the late 60's. I continue to sing with a chorale group (auditioned), and sing in my church. My singing is VERY important to me. I have developed some sort of voice strain or tension which causes hoarseness. I have a diagnosis and was told that I need some voice coaching, as I am doing something wrong when I sing and speak. I do a lot of teaching, not voice, and am required to use my voice a lot. I am not satisfied with the voice teachers in my area. Is there anything you can suggest? I copied your suggestion on the breathing. Is there anything else you can recommend just by this brief discription of my problem? Thank you.
