What a vacation!

My husband, me, Chato and el viejo were in Houston for the 4th of July, at my father-in-law's house for a bar-b-que. We were supposed to leave on Sunday, the 6th, for home.

On the morning of the 5th, my father-in-law woke up with a bad stomachache. I knew right away that it was his appendix. (First me, then el viejo, now my father-in-law. I don't know why we all had problems with our appendixes).

But do you think he would listen to me when I told him he needed to go to the Emergency Room? Nope. I'll tell you, men can be So Stubborn. He used Mylanta, Pepto-Bismol, you name it--he kept saying he just had a bad stomachache. Finally, after his wife started crying and pleading, he decided to go to the hospital. When we got him there, his appendix had already burst. He was in surgery, then ICU. He had a slight heart attack and we thought he was going to go to Heaven; but after a week of being in ICU he finally was well enough to go to a regular hospital room. He had a bad infection from the burst appendix too, but came through everything okay. He came home this past Friday.

Chato and el viejo left Houston on Wednesday the 9th. My husband and I left Houston yesterday, by bus (cheaper than having Chato come to Houston and drive back home again). I was so tired from all the stress that I fell asleep right after the evening news last night.

I had my whole vacation planned--just some housework, and sleep in late every day. Didn't work out as I expected.

I'm now going to start preparing the meals for the week and get ready for work tomorrow...

You all have a Safe and Happy week--especially you, Tommy. Yes, Tommy, I write Negative things about your president Bush, as he deserves it; but I always wish everyone here the Best of Everything, no matter what happens...

Glad to hear your father-in-law's gonna be OK and that el veijo is still with you. We wish you the best of everything, too, and hey - we're all sorry here in Michigan that Bush is still breathing (just for the record). It's such an annoying habit, I just wish he'd stop already! (NT)Micki...have a great week, everyone!Sun, July 20, 2008 12:10:05
