In reply to: Mercedes (My comments) 's message, "Let me tell you something, Obitchecker..." on Fri, May 22, 2009 7:36:45

I was watching a re-run of President Obama's speech and Dick Cheney's reBUTTal last night. (I'm home for the Memorial Day weekend, but I will be back and forth from my home to SA much of the time). I will say that President Obama's speech was refreshing, interesting and he had good solutions for the closing of Guantanamo Bay--by placing the prisoners in US Federal Maximum Security prisons where NO ONE has ever escaped and allowing these prisoners to FINALLY get their day in court in the future, instead of being in a legal 'limbo'. Dick Cheney, on the other hand, came across as a 'nutjob', talking about how he kept us safe with the 'enhanced interrogations' (referred as EI through my message) and that President Obama doesn't know what he's doing and that (heaven forbid!) these 'dangerous' terrorists get sent to the US Federal Maximum Security prisons. Someone seriously needs to give Cheney a Psychiatric Evaluation because he is turning into man obsessed with himself and with his 'my way or YOU DIE' way of life.

Congress got scared when Cheney came and blew his 'scare tactics' horn again and folded up and hid in their cave when it came to approving money for the closing of Gitmo. Shame on them for being such Wussies!

But Cheney doesn't fool me for one minute. I know what he is doing. He is playing a 'game of poker' and trying to bluff people by coming up with this 'thousands, maybe tens of thousands' of people were saved during the 'EI'. He keeps saying that there are memos that prove this and that President Obama won't de-classify them, but I have not heard Anyone else agree with him about any such 'proof'. We ALL know that Cheney could have 'made up' classified material to support his claims, then use it to justify his positions. The proof will be if Anyone else will AGREE with him.

Cheney is trying to make sure there are a few 'friendly' people out there who will defend his actions when he was Vice. He knows more people who used to work with him or for him will be coming out and naming HIM as the 'unofficial' decider of the Bush administration and that he was the one who came up with the 'EI' AFTER the terrorists had confessed to the 9/11 plot and Jose Padilla and his dirty bomb. The only reason the 'EI' were used was to try to get confessions that Saddam Hussein was involved with Al Quaida, which to this day, there is absolutely NO PROOF that Hussein had ANY connection with Al Quaida.

Mr. Cheney has to realize that most of us know what he is doing and that we will NOT be falling for his 'scare tactics'. He should have enough RESPECT to realize that he is out of office and that we have another President, who is OUR Commander-in-Chief and who is willing to take responsibility for our safety.

There can NEVER be a guarantee that we won't be attacked again--but I would rather trust President Obama and his good sense than to listen to Mr. Cheney--a "warped, frustrated old man" (credit to the movie "It's A Wonderful Life")

I have never said I was smarter than you, and, as I told Teller, I am NOT a good debater. The argument I have been making from the start is a simple one, that NONE of us know everything.obitcheckerFri, May 22, 2009 9:57:56
Okay, Obitchecker, I COULD be wrong, but NOT about Cheney! I have known him for what he REALLY is for Years and I'm not going to change my opinion about him or Bush because so MANY, MANY people have DIED because of their Greed and Corruption! (NT)MercedesFri, May 22, 2009 10:25:54
