The death of Eight Belles has put a pallor over the entire Triple Crown series this year and horse racing in general.

How many horses die needlessly due to poor treatment?

I am certainly not endorsing PETA in any way because I think they are STUPID when they blame the jockey without having a shred of evidence that it was in any way his fault.

But the way horses are bred leads me to believe that things are really not good in the racing world.

I don't know what the solution is though.

Abolishing horse racing would be a little extreme.

But ..........
