on an episode of "All In The Family", the sitcom from the 1970s. Archie was talking about how Jewish people disguise themselves, by changing their last names, but keeping their first names--like "Maury Smith", "Izzy Watts", then Mike says "Abe Lincoln" and Edith says "I didn't know Lincoln was Jewish", followed by roaring laughter. I wonder if the writers had any idea that this would become serious discussion decades later. I've always loved Mr. Lincoln. He certainly was a "mitzvah" (blessing) to our country, and THE BEST president we ever had!
I'm definitely voting for Mr. Obama in the primary here in Texas next month. I pray he wins the nomination, because if he doesn't, and Hillary wins the Dem nomination, then John McCain will certainly become the next president. And I don't want to see him succeed in "bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran" (credit to McCain). Why anyone would vote for McCain is beyond belief, but I guess there are some very childish and scared people in this country that would rather back a candidate who wants us to be at war in the Middle East for "the next 100 years" (again, credit to McCain) than to THINK about the future consequences of our country and the healing that needs to take place to make us a UNITED STATES once again.
That was a cute display of a temper tantrum shown by the Repubs in the House a few days ago. I read that the podium and microphone were already at the bottom of the steps of the Capitol even before ANYONE got up and left the session. Kinda makes one think that this walk-out was planned in advance. By the by, the spying will be able to continue for another year (but now Bush must get a warrant), even though the law expired last night. What expired was the immunity for the giant telecoms and phone companies that helped Bush illegally spy on ALL OF US. THAT'S what Bush is so upset about--he doesn't give a damn about the People, but he sure doesn't want to see his big business buddies get sued by the People. What a bas***d Bush is, to think that he can get away with turning this country into his private playpen and do whatever the heck he wants, while we stand by with one thumb in our mouth, and the other up our a**. Not me!
