somebody responded to my post! Yep, I'm off today, thanks to Mr. Lincoln and Mr. Washington, and all the other presidents (except the current occupant buffoon). When I went to school, we had to write reports on or near February 12th about Mr. Lincoln (that is his actual birthday) and then write or make something (once I baked a 'cherry' pie) on or near February 22nd for Mr. Washington's birthday. Ahh, the Good Old Days...

A few weeks ago the pollen count here in South Texas went WAY OFF the charts (the record high had been 5,000 parts per square foot) but this count was 22,000 parts per square foot! I woke up being unable to breathe well. I went to a San Antonio hospital and had to be checked in and I was hooked up to an oxygen mask for two days. I'll leave out the horrible details, but let's just say I had to have a LOT of phlegm removed from my lungs before I could get out and go home.

Mr.Obama is supposed to arrive tomorrow in San Antonio for a rally. I'm hoping that he'll still be near downtown when I get off work; because I really want to see him and even try to get to shake his hand. I'm thinking of taking advantage of early voting, which starts tomorrow, too, instead of waiting until the March 4th Primary, which is expected to have LONG lines for voting. I guess you all know who I'll be voting for--Barack!

A note about taxes: I'd rather have EVERYONE'S taxes raised to pay for government spending (ESPECIALLY the super rich and the corporations) than to keep having FEES increased on everything from my electric bill, to my water bill, to my car inspection sticker, to my credit card bills, to my phone bill, etc... To me, FEES are worse than taxes, because FEES seem to only go up for We the People, you know, the Common Folk that have to work for a living--we who don't have a pile of money from those Bushie taxbreaks, with the blessings of the US Goverment. So, I'll be happy to pay more taxes to help my fellow citizens than to pay more damn FEES. So McCain can take his taxbreaks and shove them where the sun don't shine.

I wish you all a Safe and Happy Week, and I'll let you know if I get to see Barack.

Love,
Mercedes
