More of a hobby that is getting out of hand. Not really a sanctuary, but I'm working on it. I started my interest with a trio of bantys at 8 years old, and got my 1st unwanted chickens at about 10. (Long time ago LOL) I've been giving, or finding homes for them from then on.

Within the last few years I've been getting serious about protecting better from varments. After a lot of study, I think I'll have just about the most predator proof, simi, free range yard that can be had.

I start3ed by laying a 1 x 1 inch welded wire fence flat on the ground. This will keep anything from digging under. The upright fence is 1/2 x 1 inch graduated to 1 x 2 inch welded wire. Atached above that is 2 x 4 inch welded wire reaching up to 7 1/2 feet. Almost have that done except for about 75 feet, having a temporary one there for now. Around the top will be a poultry netting that will go another 6 inches to a foot, and hanging out from the top for another 8 to 12 inches and them hang down. That should stop anything that may want to climb over. I'm thinking about a solar hot wire as well later on. I still need to trim or cut some tree branches to make sure nothing can climb up and over that way.

As far as shelter, they have areas and places to keep out of the weather. At night, they decide where they want to go. Most of the water fowl stay on the pond at night, but some of the ducks come in with the chickens. Some of the poultry roost behind our bedroom window under a 8 x 20 foot roof over hang, mostly closed in. Some go inside rooms that I close the doors over night, and some fly up in the rafters with the guineas.

If you come to or toward OK sometimes, that would be great. I thought I'd have to drive all the way to KC to pick them up. I really wouldn't want to do that right now as cold as it is. I don't have a closed in trailer to carry them all in. It's just a 16 ft utility flat bed with cages. I may be wrong, but I think driving 3 hours in the open like that would be to much for them.

I haven't contacted James about the goats yet, but will later if you think you'll need a place for them.

Getten tired, gotta go.
Tony O.
