Author: Phenom
Subject: Origins

The Camera Fades in as Phenom is sitting on Philadelphias elevated train. He rides the train until he gets off at 60th and Market Streets and begins to walk down 60th Street. The street has a lot of abandonned buildings and liquir stores. drug deals are goin down on the street corners as the cops drive by

Phenom: I heard Icon runnin his mouth talkin about where I'm from. Well here it is, welcome to West Philly. The part of town a south philly boy like you only drives through. I walked these streets daily to go to school. You wanna talk about comin from the gutter well boy it doesn't get any worse than this.

Phenom walks past 60th and Chestnut and points down the street.

Phenom: I played basketball right over there. You had to brawl to score points. I got the crap kicked out of me growin up but by the time I was 16 guess who had the most points.

Phenom continues to walk as hets to Walnut he looks at Mimmos Pizzera

Phenom: Mimmos pizzera I ate right over there. I used to watch people get their asses beat from my window. Ah childhood.

Phenom continues to walk a little kid and his mom spots him

Kid: Are you Phenom that wrestler?

Phenom: Yeah.

Kid: Can I have an autograph?

Phenom: Yeah sure.

Phenom signs a piece of paper as the kid goes into the pizza shop. The mom continues to talk to him.

Mom: So what brings a big ol' star down to these parts?

Phenom chuckles

Phenom: Well I grew up a few blocks down over on Osage.

Mom: Really? Who're your parents?

Phenom: Margaret and Frank

Mom: You're THEIR son?

Phenom: Yeah.

Mom: Wow, I know them we moved three houses down from them a few years back, their good people.

Phenom: Yeah.

Mom: Helped me a lot when my boyfirend walked out on me and him. He's a big fan of yours.

Phenom: That's great

Kid comes out with a pizza box

Kid: It was really cool meeting you.

Phenom: No problem, y'all be safe.

They leave

Phenom: These neighborhoods are filled with stories, good and bad.

Phenom continues to walk and stops at his street. Not a great block but not a bad one there's some abandonned houses and burned out ones as well.

Phenom: Yeah I grew up tough, my parents truggled to put me through private schools then college, I got an education and I got out of here, my parents'll be out of here as soon as their new house is build in Springfield. You see growin up here was all about obstacles and overcoming them. And that's what you are Icon, and obstacle. We live in the same city but we're two worlds apart. You live there and I live here. And guess what? None of it matters! Cause when you step inside that ring with me it's not gonna matter where we grew up or how we grew up, or where we live now. It's just gonna be me and you and believe me you'll have plenty of time to go to Flyers games boy cause if you don't bring your A game you'll be in traction eating your food throug a straw. I could have did this in the ring I didn't really need to come to the old neighborhood to show you how tough I really am cause I'll show you that on April 7th, I just wanted to put you on notice, that if you didn't think you were in trouble before, that you should start to worry now. You've pissed me off, and if I were you I'd be worried.
