(ALAYNA:)**Alayna wriggles from her grasp and straightens her simple blue dress, turning various shades of red and muttering self-consiously** /Mother!/ I'm sorta in the middle of something... **Motions at Aleph** (MRS. WILLOWBREATH:) Ohh, I see. Sorry dear. But my goodness, you haven't improved your attire any since the last time I saw you. Are you sure you don't want me to go through your tunics and add a bit of my own spice? You'd be the most admired mousemaid in the entire Fort! (ALAYNA:) No thank you, Mother. I like my style just fine... (MRS. WILLOWBREATH:) Oh, suit yourself then, dear. But forgive me and my manners! Who's this? **Looks at Aleph with her peircing geen eyes** (ALAYNA:) **Glad to change the subject** Mother, this is Aleph Chree. Aleph, my mother, Mrs. Willowbreath. (MRS. WILLOWBREATH:) Grasps his paw in a paw with claws painted pink, shaking it heartily** Nice to meet you, I'm sure! But you can call me Kathleen, or Kathie, if you like. Mrs. Willowbreath makes me feel old, you know that. Alaynaley! (ALAYNA:) **Tugs her sleeve urgently, directing her to a corner of the room** Mother! I don't like that name, Alayna is JUST FINE... Why don't you just... stay here... for a bit? (MRS. WILLOWBREATH:) Of course, my dear, if that's really what you want... (ALAYNA:) **Strained** It is, I assure you! **Walks hastily back to Aleph** I'm very sorry... she's a touch... eccentric. Mush like the rest of my family, although she is very musically talented...
