Subject: This Can't Be Comedy

I've been thinking about TCBC and its all but pleasant pilot episode a couple of weeks ago. The 4-person scene might've been considered as something which worked by certain people, but I found it a little too frantic and hard to follow. The four person thing isn't something which will stay.

The two-person thing works wonders. I've seen it! I've done Ultra-Frig Night with Dillo and it's excellent just about every time we try it. The scene interruption to ask the audience what they think should happen at that point in time might be a good mark to show the world that it's all nice and spontaneous, which is why I threw it in - sort of challenge, but it seriously throws a kink in scene development...and scene development is what we're really aiming for. Long form improv which actually goes somewhere in a given situation.

The third and final game of the pilot was done with two people and without the scene interruptions. It was easily the best thing there and the only one of the three which could possibly ever work. And maybe there's a chance that Alt and OG did a good job right then and there, but I doubt that's the reason why it was so good. The UFN transcripts are the same way...there aren't any rules, just the situation and you go off and do what you want to do. So, if TCBC is to survive and actually be good, successful, and funny, I've come to the conclusion that a two-person long form non-interrupted scene is the only way to go.

Herein lies the problem. I'd say we'd have only about time for three of these for each episode. That's six people. It's easy enough to assemble a group of six people. Assembling a group of six patient people is something else. After all, who's going to want to sit through two other long improv scenes? Some people who show up to some of my shows, Extemp and the like, are so impatient that they leave two seconds (literally) after I do the outro to the show. And I speak not of one, or two, or even three people. So, knowing that many of the performers are impatient, I have come to an interestion. Two roads diverged in a yellow wood. Am I sorry I could not travel both? We shall see.

So, here, the choices?
A) Keep on going and possibly crank out some good improv, but bore people to bloody DEATH in the process?
B) Cancel the whole thing (so I don't get bugged about sleep deprivation, having to be elsewhere, some important function in the morning, or anything else) and forget it ever happened.

There. The A and the B. I would appreciate public response for this, too. Especially if you were part of the first taping. If you weren't, you have no idea what I'm talking about. So, all ye who took part in the first taping of this, please reply to this and comment.

I'm still willing to go with either of the choices, but without any support from anyone else, I'll just dump the idea without hesitation. Because, quite frankly, I'm sick of getting various complaints from various people about various reasons why they have to leave. And, as I've said, there are multiple people, so I'm not pointing a finger at any certain person.

So, please voice your opinion on all of this and it will be taken into consideration. Thank you for reading this long post and have a pleasant tomorrow.

Moosey
