In reply to: Dani 's message, "*Takes the bridle and slips it on*" on 15:13:54 02/01/03 Sat

and turns to face Dani. "Okay," I say. "You know how to mount, but once you get on, that's where it gets different." I climb up on Coco, tightening the reins and scolding her as she swings her butt the opposite way. "Stop it, mare!" Coco sighs and stops but then once I'm on, she walks forward. I tighten the reins. "Okay, you're going to hold the reins in your left hand and your right hand is just going to rest on your thigh. Hold the reins between your index finger and between your pinkie and your ring finger. The excess rein just hangs down on the right side of Sunny's neck." I look at Dani and nod. "Good job. Now, your posisition." I hop off Coco and loop her reins around the fence. I walk over to Dani. "Let's fix your stirrups. They're a little long." I shorten the stirrup and ask Dani to put her foot back in it. I step a few steps away and scrutinized it. "Your leg should just be a little bent at the knee but not as much as they are in English riding." I walk over and shorten the stirrup to the same length as the other. "Feel even?"
