Hodgdon and Sparkes Named New England
Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Scholar Athletes
Worcester, Mass. - Holy Cross senior men's lacrosse players Brian Hodgdon (Pittstown, N.J.) and Bryan Sparkes (Syracuse, NY) were named 2004 Scholar Athletes by the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association. Hodgdon will graduate with a degree in Economics, and Sparkes will graduate with a degree in history. These two players led the men's lacrosse team as the only seniors on the squad.
Hodgdon and Sparkes, team captains this season, helped lead the Crusaders to their most wins since 1996 as the squad posted a 5-9 record. Hodgdon recorded a 11.97 goals against average and a .589 save percentage in his 14 games this season. He recorded 228 saves, the third highest single-season total in school history. Hodgdon posted a 636 career saves, ranking him second in school history.

Sparkes appeared in 38 games during his four years at Holy Cross. He posted one goal and four assists. Sparkes also 34 ground balls as a midfielder for the Crusaders. During his senior season he played in 13 games and recorded three assists, including one final assist in his final game for the Crusaders.

The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team finished the year with a record of 5-9 overall, 0-7 in Patriot League play.
