Subject: America East Conference

Anything to the rumor going around that HC may be invited to fill the void being created by Northeastern's decision to leave America East for the Colonial? (Could make a lot of sense- upgrade in competition, regional rivalries,etc.0
Thoughts?

Sounds like it might be a good fit. How many sports are involved in the America East?

HC declined an invitation (informal i believe, but a genuine offer) from the AEast two years ago. AEast changes (heavier state school concentration) would only make this even less attractive now.

Agreed, AEast would not be a step up. As much as I want to see a move out of the PL, The AEast would not be a good move. Look for BU to move out very soon and the AEast will be lower rated than the PL. I still think BU and HC will be in a league together and I hope it's the A10 and I highly doubt BU will ever move to the PL.

What do you think of NU's move to the CAA? Nice schools and some nice facilites, but I don't see where any additional interest would be generated by any of them in the Boston are.

I'd vote for staying in the PL if it were us.

The one coach at NU that must be doing cartwheels is the baseball coach; most of their road trips will be to places with much better weather in the spring.

Plus, I noticed in the article I read that the NU AD was talking about the ways in which they'd recoup the extra money they'd be spending on addtional travel, etc. None of them included increased attendance.

The move does pose an interesting situation w/regard to football. There are 6 current/future CAA schools that are 1AA football schools. I guess that there's the potential for them to break away from the A10, one would think.
That would leave the A10 with 5 of its all-sports members in its football conference, plus Villanova.
