Subject: We need a athletic booster club!!!
If the alums and fans want HC to stay competitive in D1 we need to organize a booster club.
There have been some posts of turning your financial "backs" on the school, but donating to a booster club, that would ensure the allocation toward the sport of your choice would be, would be much more attractive to the donor than the generic "life high the cross."
Some motivated alums could really affect change if such an organization was founded.

FYI, the fund has been approved for football. I spoke to Phil Gibson in development and Tom Gilmore, the new football coach, about this last month. McFarland and Regan pushed hard to get it approved and the Trustees agreed that it was needed in the present climate. I also understand they are establishing funds for basketball and hockey as well. They have already started soliciting donations for football. So we can stop complaining and start putting our money where our mouth is!

when do they plan on letting the little guy know that this has been done so that he/she can donate? Isn't it true that donations must be in addition to regular giving?
Very little sense in having a booster club that is by invite only...but then again they are trying to protect their ability to spend our general money donations as they so desire, with no strings attached.
Cheers.

Booser Club -- gohc, 18:10:51 07/16/04 Fri
My understanding is the fund is just beginning with the new fiscal year so they probably will start notifying alumni soon. They were just beginning to work out the details when I talked to them but it sounded like it was open to everyone and not just a select group of alumni.
