" I think that one of the biggest mistakes the NCAA ever did was split Division I into I-A and I-AA. I really think it's hurt the sport of football. I've got a question for the readers of this interview: who was the national I-AA champion last year? Actually, I have a better question: who cares? For the record, it was Montana or so I'm told. " ...Dick Regan - 2002

I think I'll order one of these for our Athletic Director....

I disagree with that assessment. Many people are interested in I-AA football. Sure, it is not the nationally broadcast interest of some I-A schools but there is a legitimate market for it. Some very traditional football powerhouses went I-AA in the late 70's when the split occurred. Many of those schools, including HC, had a huge following and many of those fans (whether they were alumni or not) continued their support and interest with these programs. There have been some new leagues that have emerged recently that don't have the same status as the original I-AA schools. But the Ivies and some of the Patriot League schools have a good following as well as the Atlantic-10 schools.
