It's a little bit of a hunt to find the site joe98 references, so for the rest of you, here it is:

the new head coach at Northwestern ladies BB is Beth Combs who was most recently the head coach of Colgate's ladies BB team. Nice to see that as they move up in the world that the coaches remember the quality of the other Patriot League coaches.

Why isn't this information posted on our web site?

It's the same reason that Mark Giovino's departure was not posted and it's the policy of the College: when you get a replacement, you note the departure.

Why does the athletic site still list the hockey game with North Dakota and spring sports scores the most recent of which is May 4? For what a site should be, go to Colgate as an example. There you see mention of the next games in various sports that will be played in the FALL: football, soccer, volleyball, etc.

Personally I like our sports information people but I just don't see why you shut the thing down once the spring sports end and fail to keep it current.

[> Re: DiGiacinto goes to Northwestern- HC website -- kesiwick, 10:40:25 06/07/04 Mon

Hardly any info. on our web site is up to date. Our hockey schedule has been posted on USCHO.com for weeks but nothing our site. Our admissions' page is horrible. We still cite info. that is over ten years old in the "How Holy Cross Measures Up" section and on and on. Many prep schools have better sites than Holy Cross. Our site is unimaginative and archaic and a discredit to our great school. It is, by far, the worst in the PL.

From her HC bio....

" She is now the recruiting coordinator for the Crusaders. Her duties also involve scheduling, academic-programming, and organizing the Crusaders’ annual fundraiser, the Crusader Legend Golf Tournament. "

Sounds like she was Gibbon's top assistant.

What is 'academic-programming' vis a vis the women's hoops program ?

Do men's hoops or the football program have an annual golf tourney 'fundraiser' ?

Football has fundraising through the football alum and the annual spring game weekend...there isn't a tournament open to everyone

ntk, others - re: some of the points in prev theads abt aa
= can you explain to me why they don't publicize a resignation until they find a replacement? (even if school policy), any other schools do the same ?
= why no golf fund raiser? doesn't everyone have one of these?
= recruits, you will also find stories on recruits for olympic teams on other pl school sites. i don't recall
'ever' seeing a story about incoming recruits for soccer/lacrosse/tennis etc.. - i can assure you, all these coaches (even in the most minor sport) know 'most' of the names of kids who are coming in to join their teams. the info on this board exceeds what the site contains.
= when does the football roster 'years' change? it's ridiculous to post the '04 spring roster with '03 season class. we are the only school that does this.

I've received explanations in the past for your first and last questions. My answer to #1 is that I don't know because no reason was given to me. The answer to #4 as I recall from last fall is that they didn't want to put up a roster and let that be the way a player found out he was cut so only the final roster was published once all cuts had been made. You can judge how much sense, if any, these make.

Golf outing? No idea.

Olympic sports? No idea.

I've never asked and therefore have never received an explanation.

Ok..so the names are up there. I know that last year the situation that I described existed. Perhaps this a change from the Allen modus operandi. Are all these players making the team? That was the problem last year. No one wanted to put a name on a roster, have that player cut after preseason practice, post the final roster and have that be the way of family and friends learning of the cut. If I have a faulty recollection I apologize. I also recall that posters wanted depth charts pre-season and that was something Coach Allen refused to do.

Unless we've lost some frosh recruits, doesn't appear so.

I don't see the 2 recruits from NJ ( Paterson Catholic and St. Joseph's of Montvale ) on either the roster within the mini-press guide or the roster at the bottom of the football page.

Anyone ?

Coach D was Gibbons' top assistant and quite an asset to the program both as a coach and a person and will certainly be missed.

[> Re: Others from PL Go to Northwestern -- NTKHC64, 10:50:17 06/15/04 Tue

Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh head coach Sue Troyan has announced the hiring of Glenn Rigney and Milena Flores to join the women’s basketball coaching staff. Rigney and Flores replace Jim Sexton and Tempie Brown, who departed for Northwestern University last month.
