Summer is coming, And I feel it will be hot!!!

I am still amaze to see the amount of abuse our Apu`s endure day in and day out.

We give them a hard time.

The light is barely green , then we throw the GEN on, and right after the 2 packs on at the same time, no wonder we see them peak at 800.

Then after it goes from 700c with two packs on, to shut down in less than 10 sec...

I wonder if we gave it chance to cool down below 400c before shutting it down, would extend the life of the apu.

On the 727 and on the L-1011 we had to wait 2 mins with no load before shut down.

You just have to spend a whole day in the summer down in PHL or DCA to appreciate an APU.

On the other hand somebody told me once, that our APU were designed for that abuse, and nursing them would`nt change their useful life.

I am willing to take a chance on nursing them.

Any comments?

Nicolas
