The Duke is not cruel. He is in the horse business to make money. The horses mean money to him.

Within the past couple of months, she hasn't been ridden of jumped. We would take her into a show, and she would refuse the first jump three times. Soon, we couldn't even get her into the showjumping ring. After that, she started getting angered as we tacked her. No you can't put saddle or bridle on her. You cannot get her into any arena. She bucks if you ride her bareback with a halter, or in any way.

.::He stops talking. He was done. He had spoken of all the mare's problems. Other than all that, the mare was flawless. She's perfect, and a real lady. She had the petite, fine look of a mare...perfect::.
