She was letting the tears flow freely now, just the look on her daughter's face told her that despite the ache it left for their daughter to grow up, it was completely worth it because there was no way Aly could be happier. She drew her daughter up in her arms, giving her a firm, sure hug, and drew back, holding her at arm's length a moment before moving onto Charlie and taking him up in her arms, though he stood heads above her, in the same fashion she'd taken Aly up. She had always liked Charlie and to welcome him into the family as her son was like a dream come true, especially in consideration of the other boys that Aly had hung with.
Through the hustle and bustle of the recieving line, he had kept tight to her hand, as though in the business of this entire place, he might lose her if he didn't, like a five year old child with his mother in the shopping mall. Echo's hug surprised him, but he accepted it, watching as his parents approached and Marco shook Adam's hand heartily. These two impossibly different families coming together was brilliant -- Charlie's family was so traditional and upright, while Aly's family fun and lenient, it would make for a perfect partnership, he reckoned.
