Baylor (and most other Texas schools) find themselves in an interesting predicament: to survive conference play, you have to use up every inning of every arm on weekends...

but then midweek games are against (depending on the conference you're in) schools within an easy afternoon's or day's drive: Houston, Rice, UTA, McNeese, Southwest Texas, Sam Houston, TCU, OU, Oklahoma State. Not an easy win anywhere in there. A win against most of those schools helps your RPI.

So for schools like UTA, it's a tough balancing act--the mouthwatering temptation of throwing your #1 against a vulnerable Baylor's or Oklahoma's #2 or #3, or save up your better arms for SLC play? If it's a tuesday, maybe your #1 can go, then pitch again on Sat. or Sun.???
