Subject: Where We Stand on Sports Expansion as 2004 Comes to An End

In 2002, there were four schools in the SLC that did not play football - SLU, Lamar, UTSA and UTA. Since then, SLU has added football; Lamar President Simmons has said he wants to add football, women's golf and women's soccer; UTSA has added women's golf and women's soccer and UTA has done nothing. Of the three without football, UTA has the best options and apparently, the least vision.

We are the only ones who have the operating funding lined up, the stadium ready for play and an expansion plan on the shelf ready for action. What we seem to be lacking is willing leadership and a unified vision. Maybe I'm wrong. I hope I'm wrong. But that's how it looks to me.
