I haven't heard of this, but I'm in Canada so it could be different where you live (USA?). I don't think even if there was a draft that they'd make your dad (sorry to hear about your mom!) go since he's your only parent. But that's just what I think, if you really want to know you should probably ask the teacher that told you this. If I were you, I wouldn't worry about anything, I'm sure it's nothing! :) --
