Natalie: It all went wrong with 'Mr Right'

NATALIE IMBRUGLIA has opened her heart for the first time about the agony of splitting with her “Mr Right” DANIEL JOHNS.

The sexy Aussie spent the weekend letting her hair down at Glastonbury while recovering from the painful break-up.

But she admitted to me on Friday night that the anguish of her split with the SILVERCHAIR singer has been tough.

Daniel, 22, has been left virtually paralysed by arthritis brought on by an eating disorder.

The Australian is slowly recovering but his illness means he is walking with a stick and the band have had to cancel a string of gigs.

Natalie said: “I don’t know if it’s a short-term split, we’ll see how things go. It has been so difficult with him being in Australia and me being here, especially with his illness, but we made a mutual decision
“It’s been really hard for both of us. I flew out to see him recently and that’s when we decided to split. So I guess I’m single at the moment but Daniel and I will always be friends.”

Natalie described Daniel in an interview with me three months ago as her “Mr Right” and the one she finally felt she would settle down with.

It is the latest setback in the beauty’s love life. She has dated LENNY KRAVITZ, Friends star DAVID SCHWIMMER and been linked with ROBBIE WILLIAMS. But she was determined to have a good time at Glastonbury.

Looking stunning even without make-up, Natalie camped over the weekend with a bunch of girlfriends.

She went on: “I’m here to let my hair down and have a good time. I’m not doing the celebrity staying-in-a-hotel thing.”

NEW YORK--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--June 28, 2002--Atlantic Records
has announced a new release date for "DIORAMA," the eagerly awaited label debut from Silverchair.

Originally slated for a July 30th release, the acclaimed collection will now arrive in stores across the U.S. on August 27th.

The new release date is the result of Silverchair singer/guitarist Daniel Johns' current bout with a severe case reactive arthritis, whose primary symptoms are chronic swelling of the joints resulting in impaired movement and extreme pain. The debilitating illness forced the Newcastle, Australia-based trio to cancel a series of highly anticipated appearances, including sold-out shows in New York and London. Johns -- who has spent the past month following a strict treatment regimen -- is currently on the mend, and has been able to perform some limited promotional activities in support of the album's global release.

While Johns' illness has temporarily prevented Silverchair from playing concerts, the band is spreading the word about "DIORAMA" via the Internet on what they are dubbing a "virtual tour." The group has been taking part in a series of webchats and other online events which enable them to interact directly with their fans. Special live chat sessions with the members of Silverchair were held last week on Lycos.com and Teenhollywood.com, with further interviews slated to air on Fan2Fan.com, HipOnline.com, SilentUproar.com, and Music Match in the coming weeks. In addition, MSN Music will be airing a streamed audio interview with Johns, along with three exclusive live tracks (recorded at this year's Big Day Out festival) beginning in mid-August.

"Obviously this 'virtual tour' is nowhere near as much fun as playing real shows," says bassist Chris Joannou. "But at least it allows us to do something to connect with some of the people who would have been coming to the gigs we had to cancel."

Silverchair's own www.chairpage.com is serving as the central information hub for all of the band's current online activities. The fully redesigned site features an in-depth look at the making of "DIORAMA," a complete history of the group's remarkable career, along with exclusive photos, multimedia, and the most up-to-date Silverchair news available.

Silverchair's first new album in three years, "DIORAMA" debuted at #1 in their native Australia, where it remained in the top ten for more than two months after its release. Their fourth collection to enter the charts at #1, the album's unprecedented success has earned the band the distinction of having more top-charting debuts than any other Australian artist.

The album's first single, "The Greatest View," was a #1 smash in Australia and has quickly received an enthusiastic out-of-the-box response from alternative radio stations across the U.S. In his rave "Spotlight" review in Billboard magazine Chuck Taylor enthused that "...the sweeping 'View' is a remarkably innovative and gratifying outing whose depth and color seem to grow with every successive spin."

"DIORAMA" has received an remarkable outpouring of critical praise throughout Australia, earning a bounty of five-star reviews. "They've created the most ambitious, glorious piece of music ever by an Australian artist," raved The Daily Telegraph, while The Herald Sun proclaimed, "'Diorama' propels them into a league of their own. . . . Steered by musical visionary Daniel Johns, it's simply intoxicating." Drum Sydney enthused, "It's an ambitious, accomplished record that has paid off and should already be considered a classic." "Musically, this is a masterpiece," lauded TV Hits.

Their fourth album of all-new material, "DIORAMA" is unquestionably Silverchair's most multi-dimensional and innovative work to date, marking a major creative leap forward. The collection was recorded in the fall of 2001 at Sydney's Studio 301 with producer David Bottrill (Tool, Peter Gabriel, King Crimson).

Setting out for new musical territory, the trio -- singer/guitarist Daniel Johns, bassist Chris Joannou, and drummer Ben Gillies -- explored a range of instruments and styles. To that end, they enlisted several other musicians for the project, most notably the legendary Van Dyke Parks, who supplied arrangements for orchestra, brass, and woodwinds on three tracks. Parks -- known for his work with such artists as the Beach Boys, U2, and Fiona Apple -- is effusive in his praise for Silverchair, noting that "Daniel Johns is the most talented person I've worked with since Brian Wilson."
