When I was young say less than 12 I always hated shots, I kicked and screamed my little head off and even tried to hide when the Doctor make a house call. I have two older sisters and when they were sick and the Doctor came it always meant they were getting a shot and always the dreaded words that since we were all sleeping in the same room it would be a good idea for all of of us to get a shot. My older sisters always made getting a shot seem so painful so as to scare me. As I became a teenager shots didn't bother me as much and I actually became to like them. I have two younger sisters and I always liked to scare them when the Doctor came that they were going to get a shot with a big long needle in their butt and how much it would hurt. One time I must of really scared them bad because they told my mother and that upset my Mom and I got paddled.

Hi Mandy,

When you all shared the same room, did each of you watch as the other got their shot? And who decided who went first?? What was the reaction of the last one since they already saw others get it?

Thanks
Tim

Most of the time we tried to disapear to another room in hopes that our name would not be called to get a shot. Yes we sometimes watched as the other was getting a shot. When we were teenagers we got a B12 shot every saturday and we would line up and mom would give us the shot in our butt.

Hi Mandy,
Thanks for the fast response. I suppose growing up seeing that would have an affect on you later in life. It did with me. But while my family watched me, I never saw any other family member get a shot. But having everyone watch me was traumatizing...

Your heart put a smile on my face.....Coooooool....

Tim

None of us were traumatized in any way at seeing the other get a shot in our butt.
As I became a teenager shots didn't bother me and I rather get a shot and have to take a pill .
Now that I am a nurse I give my sisters their weekly B12 shots and they give me mine. We always have sunday dinner at my parents house and after eating we get our shots , our husbands or boyfriends are their and they watch, we only show a little butt.

Like you, Mandy, I was terrified of injections, particularly in the bottom, during my youth but I now prefer them to pills. The change in attitude probably resulted from conversation in late adolescence with a beautiful young lady who said that, whenever ill, she preferred to get antibiotic injections. I found it exciting to visualise her shapely bottom bare for the shots and, so, decided to follow her advice.
