In France in the 60's, we had not an option, at the beginning of each new year school from middle school to the last grade of high school and even after at university, we were summoned to report at a school or university physical examination which was mandatory, if you did not come the day of the summon, you were summoned an other day with an other class at school and other students at university. So it was really compulsory (like at 18 age the summon to report in front of a draft board commission to decide about the fitness of young men for military sevice once you reached 18 age). A physical examination was also mandatory to go to a summer camp or to subscribe to a sport association or sport team outside of school and a medical form filled by a private doctor was not available, you might come on the day and location mentioned on a summon letter. At school, even the three years of high school, we might come to the nurse'office very soon after the beginning of the school year by group of 15, half of a class, supervised by our male Pe teacher, we entered in an adjoining waiting room and he instructed us to strip all together immediately until underwears ( at that time we all wore white tight briefs) and after we stayed standing in line until the school nurse came to do a roll call to check if all students were present,( she could have done it before pour undressing but the rule or use was to be instructed to undress before her roll call), she was assisted each year by a studing nurse of a neighbor school who came for all our physical exams as a training course ( she might be glad to have been assigned to that school instead of a clinic for old persons because it was an only boy's school which meaned that she would see about three hundred high school boys stark naked during her stay at the school the first weeks of the year school, and even for the roll call, she could already enjoy to see us in just underwears and expect the coming complete nudity of each of us in the exam room , that studing nurse was different each year, she was not much older than us especially at the last grade at 17 or 18 age. We were instructed after by the male Pe teacher to sit on benches ( our clothers were on hooks ) and to stay quiet, no talks were allowed in the waiting room, then ten minutes by ten or a little less we were called by the school nurse to enter in the exam room one by one but after having removed our last cloth, our brief, under instruction of the Pe teacher, so thay we were naked for a while in front of all students ( it was the same for them ) and the male Pe teacher and we entered naked in the exam room, the set up was the same each year from 14-15 to 17-18 age. Once entered and the door closed by the school nurse,I was stark naked in front of two women, the female doctor, generally a middle age woman or a little younger and the school nurse also middle aged and a girl, the studing nurse who could watch all the exam and hear comments of the lady doctor or the nurse about my body exam, it began by a weigh-in on the scale for which I might expose to the doctor and the nursing student my naked butt, she could see the school nurse slap my butt to make me climb on the scale or to stand up straight with arms on my sides without moving.. The exam was rather thorough, especially for the spine and balance for which I might do some exercices such as squat several times, stand and touch my feet while I felt that their eyes were focused on my back, walk to the other side of the room, stop and bend over and touch again my feet and then come back; even the eyes test was performed in the nude lke all other exams such as blood pressure, a blood test, a urine test for which the school nurse came with me in a small restroom and stood behind me while i tried to pee and not to think to her presence so close with my naked butt in plain view with the door opened. Then it was the dreadful inspection by the doctor of my genitals who sat on a small stool for that part of the exam with the nurses on her sides : penis, palpation of the balls and scrotum, a quick look at the urethra orifice with her fingers to spread it, the pulling back of the foreskin to inspect the glan and to check that all was fine to pull back, then of course the famous hernia test, the doctor asking me to turn the head and to cough while she was pressing with her fingers on the area around my groin and testicles. She ended the exam with my back, she slided her fingers all along my back from the neck to the crack of my butt, then she grabbed my cheeks and instructed me to squeeze them while she pinched them to check how strong they were ( at least I presume that it was her purpose for that exam ) and after she instructed me to bend over and she spread my cheeks herself for a quick visual inspection of the anus ( no prostate exam, I had my first one at the draft examination at 18 age ) During all that very intimate final part of the exam, I felt the eyes of the nursing student behind me. On the reverse of what is said by some of you, I have never been aroused during my school physical exams, certainly because I was too much impressed and embarrassed to be naked for such a long time, may be also because the exam room was rather cold since the temperature was adjusted to the medical persons who stayed all a morning. Once in the waiting room again, we were not allowed to dress again except for our briefs since we get out of the room stark naked but instructed to sit on the bench like before and stay quiet in just briefs until all our group had been examined by the doctor. I presume that our male Pe teacher thought that it would be more easy for him to keep us silent if we were still undressed. The set up was the same each year with the same school nurse and same doctor while the nursing student was each year different. Fortunately I never saw any of them later and nor I knew one of them. All of them had the opportunity to see during about ten minutes each of the threee hundred boys students of my high school, she were lucky to have that assignment compared to other nursing student and she learned certainly a lot about male teenagers bodies by watching their exams in the nude and hearing the comments of the doctor for hers. We were not happy with the presence of a nursing student but we had nothing to say, the school authoritees would have not tolerated any complain and our fathers would have laughed and said to get it over quickly or told that it would be worse during the exams for military service, which was not true for the presence of nurses but true for the full nudity. Anyway it was better to have a nursing student present in the room than a girl high school student wanting to become a nurse or following a school nursing program present to help the doctor and school nurse like it is related by one of you. Or to be examined all together in a gym with audience of families sitting on benches like I have read it in other discussions( if it was true?) As you have noticed, we were naked in the exam room but examined one by one, we were not in group except for undressing in briefs in the waiting room. But other exams such the physical examinations for summer camps or to do sport in a team outside of school were sometimes performed in group without privacy at all. Each succeeding years exam was longer and by the time I was in the seventh grade, I was treated to a rather complete physical. I was moving into puberty at a rapid rate and there was more of me to examine. That seemed to be the general opinion of most of the other boys my age. I do believe the smaller pre puberty boys got a quicker exam than the boys who were larger and into and filled out . I remember it was the first time I had my pubic area closely examined. I should say that the N.P. that year was new as were the nurses aide who helped her. The nurses aide was building her resume to get into nurses school and looked to be just out of high school. The N.P. was also young. Seeing as how my last name started with an "a" I was the first boy to get a physical. It turns out I was the first student to get an exam from either of them since they were both just out of their respective schools and had just started work that day. I didn't at the time know why, but everything they did seemed like it was timidly done. I was somewhat shy myself as I was sprouting pubic hair myself and all the talk from the older guys was about the N.P. taking more time checking out your pubic area now that you had something to examine. At my previous exams I had to strip down to my underwear to be weighed and b.p. taken,along with the eye chart. This part was done by the aide who told me to remove my underwear and gave me a paper gown and was told to have a seat on the examining table and wait for the N.P. This is where she told me I was her and the N.P.'s first patient as they had just finished school, and just started at the school that morning. She said don't tell the N.P. I told you, she wants for everyone to think we've been doing this awhile so we would have confidence in them. You've never given anyone a physical exam? Well we watched the Doctors when they gave exams but we only did the weight and eye test. What about the N.P., I asked. She has, under supervision, said the aide. About then the N.P. came in and introduced her self to me, and asked if I was ready to start. Sure, I said. The first thing she did was had me walk away from her with small steps across the room. she had me do it again on my heels, and then she had me bend over and touch my toes while she ran her forefinger up and down my spine. She then checked my throat and felt my neck and said sit on the table. She listened to my breathing and my heart and checked my pulse. She had me lie back on the table and pulled my gown down to my waist. I think the term is "palpitate", anyway that's what she did to my stomach. She felt around below my sternum and said my liver felt o.k. Next she pulled the paper gown down to my feet and felt up and down both sides of my groin, real soft like. I couldn't control myself any longer, I started to get an erection. I apologized which brought the aides attention to my erection which seemed to help it swell even more. It's quite normal she said, it's nothing to be embarrassed about. The aide had moved to the other side of the table and was starring wide eyed. We'll do this part since your in a good position. I remember one post from a lady who worked at some sort of home for wayward boys. She was an observer of their physical exams, as well as watching and helping with their initial scrubbing down with soap and water when they first arrived. Really, some of those were the most interesting messages, those from that time period, that I was privileged to read. I would like to be able to read them again. Can you help? I enjoy reading your posts, but I have one question. This may sound really dumb, but, the physical exams you refer to, were they done in France or some other country like England. Jean the Frenchie could be just a nick name because of where you were born and not raised. European countries, I think for the most part have a more lax way of viewing nudity, compared to the U.S.A. I am more sure of the Northern European countries than the Southern ones. France is kind of in the I'm not sure part of Europe. For instance, I don't know really how it was in England but I can have an idea since I have read often similar relations than that of your country about the rule of swimmming in the nude for boys at school in a recent past. You say that the european seems to have a more lax way of viewing nudity compared to the United States, I am not sure that it is true. In France or Italia or Spain, I have never read or heard anything about swimming in the nude for boys at schools or summer camps. Of course, much more years ago, until begining of the 20th, the nudity was common on beaches as we can see in some paintings, at least for young men, even male teenagers (at that time the teenagehood was not recognized, you were a child until teenagehood and after you were an adult.) I presume that in France the nudity of young men was during a long time considered as more normal than that of girls, the disrespect of privacy and modesty of boys or even young men was not a big deal except if it was considered as offensive by women. There was also a long tradition of nudity for draftees at the physical examinations for military service to decide of their fitness after 18 age, and the set ut of the exams was very similar in many countries with public nudity in front of doctors and a draft board commission composed of many persons who were not medic persons but it was normally in a complete male environment ( there could be a few exceptions of course and may be more in other countries than France, but I doubt that the presence of women as part of the medical staff or observers was common in a western country ) For the same reasons, the nudity at mandatory school physical examinations, or for summer camps, or for sports, or for entrance in apprenticeship was rather common until the middle of 60 's, and that time very often with a female medical staff and sometimes also administrative women like secretaries to check identity or take notes on forms. So you can consider that we were less prude at least for males at occidental countries than in the United States but I am not sure that it is true, since I have read on discussions many relations of physical examinations of boys in different situations who were not different in the United States. What surprises me much is that we have never appied in France the rule of swimming in the nude for boy's students at school despite the fact that until the middle of the 60's we had no mixed schools in France, so it would have beeen easy to decide of that rule and we were generally following the ways of life which prevailed in Unted States but I presume that the french authorities did not know it(it was not like today for informations ), since it was not spread in all the united States but only in some states. If they had known it,I am quite sure that they would have decided to do the same. As regards the old messages, unfortunately, I am like you, I do not know what we must do to find them again, I have not understood why the discussions have been suppressed, it was so easy to suppress only the messages which were injurious or with forbidden situations or ideas. I remember also of a post of a lady who had been when young an observer of the procedure of entrance in a home for waywardboys and that she was telling that she had seen all the examinations of boys even pre-teenagers whi was performed in the nude in public. I don't know in first hand how it was carried on in France for such situations in the past but I have ready seen some similar situtions at boardind schools in movies and read in books that the boys were standing in line naked for showering and physical examinations in front of female nurses and possibly members of the administrative staff.
