 I got shots as a kid when the doctor made house calls. The shots were usually because of ear or throat infections and was usually penicillin in the buttocks. They were delivered face down on the bed.

Geez, brings back memories from the 60's. Doc would come if I was sick exam and all, then a shot, sometimes would tell my mom to give me an enema. I had two older sisters who would huddle around and watch everything that went on, real snoopers, they didn't want to miss a thing...and yes the penicillin shots hurt!
