I can remember our next door neighbour had a daughter the same age as me and seemed like me ot suffer a lot of childhood illnesses. Our parents would actually encourage us to visit each other when one was ill to relieve the boredome as we didnt have television in this country in those days. We were both chess enthusiasts and would spend hours together concentrating on the game. Upon entering the sick room though the first thing you would look for was if the doctor had left behind a used syringe because that usually meant the patient had an injection and usually in the bottom. If I was ill and she was visiting and the doctor was coming I would find it hard to concentrate on the game and would start to squirm in the bed when the doctor was announced. My visitor would be asked to leave so the doctor could examine me and the same would apply if I was visiting her. Sometimes I would wait next the fence which ran along the side of he house next to her bedroom. Sometimes I would heare voices and the words oh no as she was told to turn over and then shortly after there would be a cry and the sound of sobbing.
I suspect all the kids in our neighnbourhood were scared of the doctor mainly because of the injections.

My mom took me to the doctor yesterday because I had missed 2 days of school due to a head cold, fever and sore throat. I am a senior and taking some hojnor classes so missing school really puts you behind. He told my mom I had really bad tonsils and was going to put me on antibiotics for 10 days. She said why not give her a shot won't that work faster. He said I usally don't, but I we could do that. A nurse came back in a few minutes and told me to unfasten my pants and lay on my stomach. My butt was bared and then I felt a jab. I hollered out and my mom said, be quiet beofre you scare all of the kids. It was a very large syringe. I knew why my butt hurt when I saw the needle. The nurse told my mom to return in 3 days if not better for another shot. No way in hell am I coming back for round two.

Hi,
I guess it's a matter of where you live and guts...LOL

I find, in NY, doctors are not so quick to give shots as opposed to pills. In fact, No doctor has suggested a shot in 30 years, to me.....

I give you credit for guts. For even though you knew it would hurt, you did it. I would have been afraid and just taken the pills.

Whenever I do take antibiotic pills, I take two the first dose. I was told by my doctor, that pills too, start working right away. It's only a matter of whether they affect your stomach in a bad way...

So, you have a lot more guts then I do...LOL

Tim

I'm curious. You say that no way will you go back in 3 days for another shot. But didn't you argue at all when your mom insisted on the first shot? I would think in High School a kid could put up a pretty good arguement to be allowed to take the pills? Did you just accept your fate and get up on the table and lower your jeans? No resistance?

Also, your mom had to know those shots hurt real bad. So why would she yell at you to quiet down? Or why would she think you "could" quiet down??

Just curious because by the time I was in High School, no one could make me do anything. But thats just me I guess. What State was this in?

Thanks,

Tim

My mom and I are very close. I knew that it was for my own good, but it still hurt like hell. I could have refused , but then I would have lost my car. I live in Kentucky. Tim just so you know I did get another in the other cheek 3 days later. it hurt , but this time I was prepared for it. I am feeling much better today.

I went for a routine physical for employment and since it had been a year since my last PAP my doctor did one. I was not prepared for what came next. I received a call 3 days later saying I needed to come back in. I was told I had a STD and needed treatment. My boyfriend had been sleeping around it turns out. The nurse came back with 2 large syringes and I was told I would need to lie on my stomach. I had tears in my eyes before it even began. She said she would get her co-worker and they would give me both injections at once. I pulled down my jeans and panties and had my hands at my side when she came back with the other nurse who turned out to be a male. They both picked up the syringes , cleaned a spot and jabbed me together. I could feel that large needle sink into my hip. It hurt so bad I was bawling like a baby. Needless to say I dumped the asshole and told his mom what he had done. His mom who is still my friend said the nurse that gave him his shots gave it to him cold which made it hurt even worse.

I took my boyfriend to the ER after he cut his hand while cleaning fish. he got 9 stitches in his hand. He had to get a tetanus shot in his right arm. She told him to drop his shorts and bend over for another shot. he dropped his shorts and boxers. I was looking at his little white bare butt. She took this really big needle and buried it in his butt and shot him full of this yellow colored medications. After she pulled out the needle he hobbled around rubbing his butt cheek. He told me it hurt like hell.
