Regarding Church of Nick: OK. The Bible...which is accepted by most Christians as a book of scripture, states that by their fruits ye shall know them (meaning true followers of Jesus Christ). So which fruit indicates that we are not followers of Jesus Christ (speaking of the one in the Bible).

Because you live in Appalachia and that is typical of the population.

My experience has been nothing like you describe. As a missionary I taught a range of people at all levels of education. My experience when joining the Church of Jesus Christ was from an educated background a product of a German Jewish mom and Scottish/German/Irish Catholic
business owner father. My parents seperated and my father never joined the Church of Jesus Christ - he's still an alcoholic - and my mother did join wherein she enjoys the fruits of her conversion.

As for repression: I actually feel liberated as a member of the Church. Because as a young Catholic, I was not given answers I was simply told that's the way it is. In the Church of Jesus Christ, I can study it out, ask other members, non-members and discuss it with my Father in Heaven to seek His counsel. In the end, I have a host of ideas some of which reconcile my understanding of the things, some of which have not been answered. I also have performed necessary ordinances that I personally have felt was required in order to show my conviction to Jesus Christ. I accept Him as my personal Savior and I share that with others so that they can determine for themselves if it fits their goals in terms of eternal progression.

That of course bears no relevenace to our discussion. One would have to accept that communism (which is a form of government - not a social structure) limits personal freedoms in way that is not consistent with a set of objectives defined by an individual. Wherein the application of Communism in most forms was dictative, it does not mean the intent was such.
