I assume that you are refering to MPEG encoder errors, where areas of the screen breaks up into small squares. If so, I've had very little problem with the JVC's. My older Panasonic PV-HD1000 dvhs used to show a lot of MPEG encoder errors. All four of the JVC's that we purchased in the last three months are very good. Tape quality and dirty heads are the main cause of problems.
