Well...

The LS3 mode is DVD quality according to the doc, and it is very nice. Better than any VHS I've seen otherwise, on a standard TV. On my Mitsu Diamond it shows artifacts, but has a better picture using firewire transfer of digital streaming video, but sometime hickups. The picture quality using standard speed (non-LS3) is better and no hiccup using firewire playback. The tapes are expensive. It will record digitally on S-VHS tapes too! I like to record HD program via (S-video input) or widescreen standard def and playback is such a way as to have a full picture and proper proportions using standard for HD and expanded for standard widescreen. I love my JVC 30K recorder, I just wish it would talk directly to my PC.
