Subject: Component to Firewire DVHS recording

Does anyone know if it is possible to take an HD signal from a Scientific Atlanta explorer 2000hd cable box with component outs and record the signal on a JVC DH 30000U DVHS deck in HD?
Ive tried using Datavideo's component to firewire converter but it did not work.
There are a few other component to firewire converters out there by DPS and Laird but I don't know what they do to the analog HD when they convert it to a digital signal either.
Any suggestions?
