I'm actually using my JVC HDRM10000 to store tapes coming from TV recordings, with the aid of an editing machine (Datavideo SE200). My aim is to cut out advertising and to copy tapes in digital. So I just use pause and record, but the best way to have a clean cuts is to do it fading to black and than from black to video with at least 1 second as fading time; if you try to make cuts without this trick, last frame before the cut will result in still and the first frame after the cut sometimes pixelized.
Anyway, forget to make a linear editing with precision cuts between scenes without trouble: this generation of D-VHS is not designed for it. In fact the jog shuttle operation (as the frame to frame advance) in D-VHS doesn't work.
Bye.
