Subject: D-VHS pre-recorded software

I get the definite impression that other than JVC themselves that everyone else is dropping their D-VHS machines. I know Philips have for one at least. Are there any plans for pre-recorded sodtware on D-VHS? As much as I want to buy a machine with no pre-recorded software and even the manufacturers discontinuing the machines I really can't see it lasting very long. I detest DVD for its overhyped poor picture quality. Being better than standard VHS and having the digital tag doesn't make it a good format. However, it does seem to be the only really viable choice at the moment. Can anyone else convince me I am wrong? As much as I would like to go with D-VHS if in a couple of years I can't buy the tapes or get spare parts its a non-starter as far as I am concerned. Thus I will be left with theonly sensible option being to wait for recordable DVD market to sort itself out and then take the plunge. I currently use S_VHS and have for just over 5 years. Not one pre-recorded title in that even!

Paul Lemonidis.
