Equine World Update - I think it’s definitely time!

Greetings!

So much has changed in Equine World lately, I feel the need to summarize and clarify a few things. The most important being that we have, for the first time ever, almost sixty active members! With the sheer quantity of people needing boarding stables, I am going to allow two members to open stables. The waiting list has about ten people, I’ll choose based on activeness, as well as how long they have been patiently waiting. I’ll contact you ASAP about that. :) If you have changed your mind and don’t want to own your own stable, please tell me, as many do!

There are a few unpleasant matters I must address. The rules in Equine World are meant to achieve two things:
a) Fun. We want everyone to have a great time. That’s impossible. So we settle for most people having a great time, most of the time. That means that sometimes, Equine World isn’t the right fit for someone. Being fair is a huge part of keeping the game fun for as many as possible. If the rules just don’t suit you, you are welcome to find another game. We don’t want one potential member ruining the game for the majority.
b) Promote activity. Not everyone can spend hours a day on a computer. However, some of the members of Equine World do, and it shows, and it should. The members who are more active contribute more to the game. They also spend more time showing, breeding, buying and selling. Therefore, they are often the most successful. If you are doing something that makes you vastly more successful than a member who has been in the game far longer, obviously what you’re doing isn’t right. For example, giving your horses ribbons they did not earn honestly in a proper show, or not keeping accurate records of your money.

I can’t put every little subrule on the rules page. It becomes overwhelming. I originally wanted to have ten basic rules, and that was it. We now have twenty-one, though the last one is pretty straightforward. ^_~ Still, it’s a lot to read and also a lot to enforce. There are so many things that just don’t occur to you until you see them in action.

I would also like to remind people to the gestation period (amount of time from when you decide you are breeding horses to the time the foal is born) in Equine World is two weeks. You cannot register them in the MR until two weeks, you cannot auction them off or sell them. You must actually wait the two weeks. :) It’s inconvenient, but hey, better than eleven months!
