Knew Dick from around 1970 when he first moved to Old Joe's in Cambridge.I was working in a B-grass band, Stoney Lonesome, with a couple other OJ'ers and was fortunate to have been able to jam with Dick on many occasions. He was a cut above most of the area musicians and a great person to hang around with.
I sold Dick the best guitar I ever owned- a battered '52 D-18 Martin formerly owned by a blind street musician who, it unfortunately appeared, never owned a seeing eye dog. Dick had the guitar repaired and I was very pleased to learn he still had it- and loved it, when we reconnected a couple years ago.Said it was the best $300 he ever spent. I thought a lot about Dick and my old guitar over the years after he moved out to CA and though I missed it- and him, was happy to know it was in his hands.
I'll miss Dick, but at least the good memories will remain.
