I am sorry if I sound like I am being too critical, but these things have been pent up for so long I just have to say them.

The leadership may pride itself on not being political, but in fact he is a master of politics. What I have seen over the years is that chapter leaders and senior missionaries are all dependent on the main leader in Chicago. This is convenient because would-be leaders in other chapters are played off against one another by the main leader in Chicago. I have seen division within chapters encouraged so that the final arbiter in conflicts is the main leader. So, all power is concentrated as people are played off one against another. The leadership in Chicago has been masterful in undercutting leadership and meaningful authority within the chapters so that in the end all power is consolidated in one place.

You can't really say that this has "worked" in that a healthy organization based on trust and coworking has developed. However, you can say if the main point of this
"style" is to consolidate power, then it has indeed worked.

However, the future will be disastrous even for the UBF faithful. A famous financier once said, "Invest in a company that any fool can run, because sooner or later any fool will probably be running it!" The same is true for UBF. The leader as weeded out all the imaginative and creative leadership that are truly spiritual men and instead as chosen relatively simple, passive, and dull spiritual "technicians" whose only qualifications are mimicking and parroting the leader.
Such people are not prepared to meaningfully lead the Body of Christ. These "UBF technicians" seem to follow a human more than Christ.

Such an organization is headed for either greater abuse or collapse. Instead of a healthy spiritual body of Christ founded on faith, trust, openness, acknowledgement of differences we have something wholely different. It will be interesting to see what happens when a new leader does in fact taked his place.

I think it
is going to be a mess.

I apologize for being critical, it is just that I feel I must say it. If you don't agree with me, I respect that. Just say why you think I am wrong without the personal insults.
