In reply to: Peg 's message, "Great Scrapbooking WebSite!!" on 18:48:55 08/05/03 Tue

After being a member of the site I referenced in my previous post (www.scrapbookit.net) for the past several months, I find that I can no longer recommend it. The messageboards are not monitored sufficiently by the moderator/admin -- resulting in unanswered questions (or great delays in getting answers) and worse, flaming and rude comments being made by a few of the regular members toward others. What really turned me off of the site was that there was a contest offered by the site admin (a contest which went on for 3 1/2 months!), and almost a full month after the contest had ended, the site admin decided to end it and NOT award the prize after all, claiming her own time constraints as the reason (she has a small child at home, is pregnant and says she runs the site herself). A lot of people had spent an enormous amount of time and effort trying to earn points for this contest, assuming that the contest would be fairly conducted and the prize (a sizzix machine and several dies, paper, and fibers) would be awarded as promised, especially when all of the participants had met her contest terms. I personally feel as though we were all misled and duped into advertising her site and recruiting new members, operating under the belief that we would have a shot at winning that wonderful prize. Even after the contest ended, she never even hinted that the prize would not be awarded, as long as the contest terms were met, which she admitted they were. I can understand time constraints; I have them myself, yet I (and several others) worked hard to meet all of the requirements of the contest. She knew her situation before she even offered the contest, and to not award the prize after it ends is just extremely irresponsible, not to mention grossly lacking in member goodwill, and possibly even fraudulent.

The site still does have free auctions, and those are nice, although the site doesn't generate very much traffic.

This is just my opinion based on my experience; but feel free to visit the site if you want. (You won't find any information on the contest, however, because all reference to it has been deleted from the site already.) I just really feel bad b/c I recommended the site in the first place, and now that I know how things operate, I just wanted to set the record straight.
