被查詢有關「閒話一句」令人失望的表現時，白德民說，跑過八百米處，「閒話一句」被「自由好」碰撞，「閒話一句」因而動作失去平衡。他說，其後「閒話一句」走勢未如慣常，離終點尚遠已洩氣。賽後獸醫檢查「閒話一句」，並無發現任何明顯異常之處。練馬師約翰摩亞未能就「閒話一句」的表現提供任何解釋，因該駒自上仗操練表現頗佳，他預期該駒是日會有好表現。小組告知練馬師約翰摩亞，考慮了有關情況，小組認為「閒話一句」的表現難以接受。「閒話一句」必須試閘及格，並且通過獸醫檢驗後，才可再次出賽。


柏寶（「勝眼光」）被裁定一項不小心策騎〔賽事規例第100(1)條〕，事緣在接近千五米處，他容許坐騎在尚未帶離「步步穩」時向內斜跑，導致「步步穩」被帶向內跑橫越「花好月圓」的應有跑線，「花好月圓」因而在失去其應有的跑線時受擠迫並且勒避，相應被帶向內跑壓向「再領風騷」，「再領風騷」因而受阻。小組判罰柏寶停賽（兩個香港賽馬日）直至二月十一日星期四才可再次出賽。此項停賽罰則押後至二月三日星期三跑馬地賽事後執行。此外，柏寶被罰款四萬元，以代替停賽多一個賽馬日。
